The Restaurant burwood
Best Steak in the Hunter

The award-winning Restaurant at The Burwood is home to Newcastle’s best steaks, with 5 carefully sourced cuts on the menu. Our beef suppliers have become  close friends, our beef is carefully sourced and selected to provide our customers with a premium selection of quality meats. We put a lot of effort into quality control through taste testing to make sure of it!

For those that don’t love steak as much as we do, our menu has most other animals covered. And of course some amazing vegetarian and vegan options. For our full restaurant experience, book a table for lunch or dinner, or if you’re after a quick, casual bite drop in and try your luck for a table in the bar.

Our leafy outdoor courtyard is also available to book on the day, weather permitting.

Our restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner. Even on most Public Holidays.

The Burwood Inn, Merewether Awarded (the maximum rating of) 3 schooners- ‘best in its class’

‘An unassuming façade conceals The Burwood’s funky renovated interior, and you’re welcomed like a regular – something that most visitors will aspire to become. Professional waitstaff are unperturbed by the crowds and so, it seems, is the chef. A pulled pork starter is delicate shredded meat on a soft taco with a generous dollop of cabbage and fennel slaw in a deliciously creamy dressing. Steak lovers will not be disappointed with the five quality cut options or their treatment. Pasture fed on the Northern Rivers, the rib-eye promises to be an emperor among steaks. It most certainly is: cooked on the bone for added flavour, it is divine.’ – Sydney Morning Herald Good Pub Food Guide 2014
